Every blockchain transaction costs a fee, but the amount varies hugely between networks. Ethereum’s fees are priced in Gwei (1 Gwei = 0.000000001 ETH) and fluctuate with network demand. Layer-2 networks like Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base settle on Ethereum but offer drastically lower fees. BSC, Polygon, and Avalanche are independent chains with their own native tokens. Solana uses a flat-fee model — typically a fraction of a penny.
The costs shown are for a standard transfer (21,000 gas on EVM chains, one signature on Solana). Token swaps and contract interactions will cost more — usually 3×–10× a transfer.
